Here you will find a collection of frequently asked questions and answers to help you before, during and after your rental experience.

Our offices in Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero are strategically located and easily signposted. Every office can be found within 100 metres of Arrivals in its respective aiport. The close proximity to the terminal allows a fast and stress-free pick-up service, which is a significant advantage compared to many of our competitors.

Yes, all online rates already include the discount.

Reservations can be made autonomously on our website www.ruvioli.com.
Using the booking form you can choose the model of the car and any additional services.
The system will automatically calculate the total, already discounted by 15%.
Once you have completed the request with all the information, you will receive a first email entitled “Pendente (pending)”.
The Booking office will verify availability and will send a second email entitled “In Attesa (on hold)”, requesting payment of a deposit of 30% of the total within the following 24 hours. Payment is made by following the link “PAY THE CONFIRMATION DEPOSIT NOW”.
Once the deposit has been paid, the reservation will be confirmed by a third email entitled “Confermata (confirmed)”.

Yes, the deposit will be deducted from the total cost of the rental.
For example:
Total rental cost: 100 euros.
Confirmatory deposit of 30%: 30 euros.
Balance of 70% to be paid on the day the car is picked up: 70 euros.

Our car rental company guarantees availability, only when it is formally confirmed by us via email, of a vehicle belonging to a specific segment or group A, B, C… For technical reasons we cannot guarantee a specific car model nor can we guarantee the colour, the type of power supply, the type of gearbox (manual or automatic), precise electronic functions (such as Bluetooth or Satellite Navigator) or a specific interior and/or exterior set-up. If, for technical reasons, the booked model is not available, we will undertake, at our expense, to provide a car model of the same or higher group and with specifications as close as possible to the model initially confirmed.

During the booking process, before the administration sends a formal booking confirmation, it will be required to pay 30% of the total amount as a deposit. The deposit is non-refundable in accordance with Article 1385 of the Italian Civil Code.

Changes to your booking are at the discretion of the administration.

An operator will proceed to check availability on the basis of the new dates provided and to send a new confirmation email with any rate adjustments (e.g. increase/reduction of rental days, change of vehicle drop-off location, out-of-hours delivery, etc. )

Yes, it is possible to pay both the rental fee and the security deposit (excess) with a prepaid card.

Yes, it is possible to pay the security deposit (excess) with a prepaid card. Upon signing the contract, the operator will carry out TWO operations: one relating to the “payment” of the rental fee and the other relating to “pre-authorization” for the security deposit (excess).
Upon return of the vehicle, if no damage has been made, the operator will cancel the pre-authorization and attach a copy of the cancellation receipt to the rental agreement.

As soon as a customer returns a car, the operator cancels the security deposit.
It is important to specify that the security deposit is NOT collected by us, but is pre-authorized, therefore no debits or credits are made to the customer’s bank account.
To find out the exact time taken to release the security deposit (excess), please check your credit card account. Once the security deposit has been cancelled, we are unable to carry out further procedures or send reminders to the credit company.

No, it is not compulsory, it will still be possible to rent the car as long as the credit/debit card holder is present when the contract is signed.

The online payment of the deposit can be made with different cards as long as they are registered to the holder of the contract, who must be present at the time of delivery of the car.

Kasko insurance is always included in our rental contracts. It reduces the compensation penalty payable by the customer to a maximum of € 600.00. Sole liability applies only to: glass (windshield, windows, mirrors); wheels (tyres and rims); locks; interior upholstery; documents; neglect; violation of the highway code.

 

Your liability may be limited to the deductible stated in the contract, provided you comply with all the terms of the contract and the loss, damage or theft is not caused intentionally or through the gross negligence of you or an authorised or unauthorised driver.

The Medium Kasco Protection insurance coverage allows you to limit the liability to a maximum of € 300.00 and eliminates the customer’s liability for damage or dents to the body such as dents in the door, broken mirrors and bumper scratches.

We have a like-for-like fuel policy. All vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as provided upon collection, which is not guaranteed to be a full tank of fuel. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it had upon collection you will be charged both the cost of the amount of fuel which is missing, and a service charge of 15 euros.

Despite having subscribed to the Kasco or Super Kasco insurance coverage, in the event of an accident involving the opening of an insurance case, the customer will be charged a fee for company charges of 120 euros. The customer will also be charged the deductible, which will be applied by the insurance company.

Yes, but only if the licence is written in Roman characters and there is an agreement or convention between your country of origin and Italy.
Please note that in order to better protect those who are NOT part of the European Community, in addition to a driving licence from the country of residence, an International Driving Licence is also required. International Driving Licences are issued by the relevant state authority for motor vehicles in a short time. BOTH driving licences must be presented upon collection of the rental car.

No, you can not rent a car and leave the Island.

In the event of a breakdown, the customer must immediately notify one of our offices and request roadside assistance themselves by calling the freephone number 800 3428 00, which is active 24 hours a day.
If the breakdown is due to a manufacturing defect in the car, we will assist you in reaching the nearest car rental office where you will be able to pick up a replacement car. However, in the event of negligence or gross negligence, any costs and expenses will be at the sole expense of the customer.

Immediately notify the rental point staff, who will arrange for a duplicate key to be delivered from the central office as soon as possible. The costs and expenses for the delivery and duplication of the key are at the sole expense of the customer. In the case of “Super Kasko” coverage, the cost will amount to the maximum excess (€ 150.00).

Each site has a “key box” near the counter for customers to return keys autonomously 24 hours a day.

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside our vehicles. This includes electronic cigarettes and vapes. If the vehicle is returned to us with any signs or damage caused by smoking, you will be charged both 100 euros for the sanitisation of the vehicle, and a one-day rental fee.

The vehicle must be returned in the same condition in which it was collected. If the vehicle is returned with signs of food waste, salt-water stains, suncream stains etc. you will be charged both 100 euros for the sanitisation of the vehicle, and a one-day rental fee.

It is strictly prohibited to leave waste or any other item in the vehicle upon its return. Ruvioli-Rent-a-Car will not assume any liability for forgotten personal items left inside our vehicles, and therefore, we cannot guarantee their recovery.

Although it is not mandatory to wash the car before returning it, please note that cars must be returned in adequate sanitary conditions. If waste is found inside the vehicle, an additional cost of € 15.00 will be charged for partial cleaning and € 50.00 will be charged for sanitizing the vehicle.

Yes, for companies that require their workers to travel to Sardinia for business, it is possible to arrange a “delegated credit card”. For more details, please contact the relevant office.

Yes, for those who wish to purchase a rental as a gift for a birthday, honeymoon, wedding anniversary or any special occasion, it is possible to use their own credit card remotely by arranging a “delegated gift”. For more details, please contact the relevant office.
